About US
Dunnellon Community Services, Inc. was established in 2021 to serve the physical, spiritual, material, and educational needs of the people of Dunnellon. Our mission is to unify and empower our community and people of goodwill to meet the growing needs of local residents, especially seniors and disadvantaged families who face food insecurity and limited access to essential resources.
Who We Serve
Dunnellon is home to approximately 2,434 residents, with nearly 46% aged 60 or older and a median household income of $40,700. About 435 residents live below the poverty level, making the need for community-based support programs more urgent than ever.
Our Programs
We operate several key programs that bring help and hope to our neighbors:
Hot Lunch Program: Providing freshly prepared, on-site hot meals three days a week for seniors age 60 and over. In 2024 alone, we served over 8,000 lunches, offering not just nutrition but fellowship and care.
Food Pantry Programs:
Senior Pantry serving Dunnellon and Marion County residents age 60+.
Community Pantry open to all residents under 60 or those outside Marion County.
Both pantries provide monthly groceries to reduce food insecurity among families and individuals in need.
Community Drive-Through Events: Seasonal food distribution events for the wider Dunnellon area, ensuring that no neighbor is left behind.
Thanksgiving Dinner Program: An annual tradition now in its sixth year, serving full holiday meals to more than 160 sit-down guests and 40 takeout meals, supported by local partnerships and volunteers.
